A renovated pier at Dale County State Public Fishing Lake was just one of the improvements made while the lake was closed to anglers for the last two years. Anglers will hopefully see improved fishing in the future, as the lake was drained, stocked and is now open for fishing again.

Closed since 2010, Dale County State Public Fishing Lake opened for fishing July 5 after being drained for improvements.
Also known as Ed Lisenby Lake, the 92-acre fishery in Ozark underwent numerous improvements including a new courtesy dock at the boat ramp, a small pond constructed near the ramp for kids’ fishing events, pier renovation and fish-habitat installations.
“The lake was stocked with plenty of bass and bream,” said State Lakes Coordinator Jack Turner. “This will be an excellent fishing spot for locals and is worth a visit from anglers anywhere in the state.”
Lake facilities include a bait shop with a wide variety of fishing tackle, live and artificial baits, other fishing supplies, restrooms, soft drinks and snacks. Boats are also available to rent for $5. For anglers bringing their own boats, an outboard motor can be attached, but only a trolling motor is allowed to be used while on the water.
In addition to a valid fishing license, a daily $3 fishing permit is required for anglers 12 and older. All other fishing regulations and creel limits apply. For more information about the lake, call (334) 774-0588 or visit www.outdooralabama.com.
