The month of May is far removed from the Alabama deer season. Out of sight often means out of mind.
The truth is that it’s the food-plot preparations taken by deer hunters now that can go a long way toward determining what kind of hunting season they will have next fall.
Much of the food-plot focus of Alabama deer hunters is directed at fall green fields to attract deer so they can be more easily hunted. Too little effort is expended at making sure there are healthy deer to attract.
There are several things landowners can do to improve the overall health and condition of the deer herd on their property.
