Truck-Buck XI kicked off at daylight on Oct. 14. AON subscribers who archery hunt are now looking to collect the highest-scoring buck in one of four weeks of bow season and win a Mathews Halon bow, a prize valued at $1,100. Those same four hunters will stand on the Truck-Buck Shoot-Out stage next summer and compete for a brand-new Chevy 4X4 pickup truck. Sound too good to be true? It’s not... but you will need to make sure your AON subscription is up to date at least one day prior to killing that buck.

Truck-Buck is AON’s statewide deer contest that awards weekly prizes for the best bucks taken each week of deer season. With 17 Weeks, a Youth Week (Nov. 10-13) and three wildcard opportunities, there are 21 different Weeks (or Wildcards) for AON subscribers to have a chance to win.

In addition to our weekly bow winners earning Mathews bows, our muzzleloader weekly winner will take home a new CVA smokepole. Our Youth Week and general firearms’ weekly winners will all win new Savage deer rifles. All of our weekly winners—plus our three wildcard winners for public land, ladies and youth—will win Hunter Safety System vests. Our three wildcard winners will also win Evolve Multi-Tools from Havalon Knives.

Our 21 winners will compete in the Truck-Buck Shoot-Out next summer, where one of them will drive off in the new truck.

Again, the only prerequisite for entering the contest is to be an AON subscriber or a spouse or dependent of an AON subscriber at least one day before killing the buck you plan to enter. If you kill a deer and then run home and subscribe to AON magazine, it’s too late. You can’t enter that buck.

Once you kill your buck, enter it at www.aonmag.com or through the mail by using the form that’s on page 44.

Next spring, AON will host our official antler-scoring day to measure the racks and determine weekly winners and Shoot-Out qualifiers.

Call (800) 438-4663, or visit www.aonmag.com to sign up for AON. We’ll send you 12 issues of AON?a year, and you just might win a new 4X4 pickup truck.

Youth Week Set For Nov. 10-13

Youth aged 15 and younger who kill a buck during the state’s Nov. 10-13 “Special Youth Deer Hunting” opportunity can enter that deer in Truck Buck XI’s “Youth Week.”

This four-day period in Truck-Buck XI is a great chance for a kid to enter and win a spot in next summer’s Truck-Buck Shoot-Out. There were only five entries during last season’s Youth Week, which was won by Will Brower, who was 11 when he killed his 100-inch Tuscaloosa County deer.

Take advantage of this unique scoring period?in Truck-Buck. In order to be eligible to compete, kids must be AON subscribers or dependents of AON subscribers one day prior to harvesting their buck. Then, you’re ready to take a kid hunting. If they kill a buck, simply submit an entry, sit back and relax. In the spring 2018 (date TBA later), AON will host our special scoring event where all contestants will bring their racks to have them officially scored.

The winner of the Youth Week will win a spot in the Shoot-Out, along with a Savage youth-model deer rifle and an HSS safety harness.

Make sure those AON subscriptions are up to date, and be ready to have your kids in the woods during this special four-day hunt.
