You expect to see high gas prices these days when you stop to fill up, but a motorist got a different type of shock at a service station in Morgan County.

City of Decatur police officers responded to a 3 a.m. call of a 350-lb. wild boar charging a customer at the Chevron gas station on Point Mallard Parkway Southeast.

The Chevron station is located in the Decatur police jurisdiction, but the feral swine ran into the Priceville Police jurisdiction and to a Mapco gas station. Officers from both departments chased the large pig for about 30 minutes as it ran through a field near a Comfort Inn and it ran across Alabama 67 near a Waffle House. A Priceville Police officer finally was able to fatally shoot the animal.

Animal control officials had to use a backhoe to remove the wild boar from the scene.
